From Internet Cafe To Community ISP
Geoponet began its journey in November 2014 as Geoponet Cafe, an internet cafe established in Koforidua Ada, Eastern Region. The facility initially operated with ten desktop computers connected to a single internet server, serving members of the public in a traditional cafe setting.
As smartphones, tablets and laptops became more common, demand for wireless internet grew significantly. In 2016, Geoponet partnered with Step Network to transform the cafe into a community wireless hotspot, deploying wireless access points throughout the surrounding community.
Today, Geoponet Internet Services has evolved into a fully operational Community Internet Service Provider, delivering broadband to more than 60 homes, businesses and corporate institutions across Koforidua and neighbouring communities — sustained by the investment of Geoponet Enterprise and the technical support of Step Network.
