Cause

The Geoponet Cafe was established in November 2014 in Koforidua Ada in the Eastern region of Ghana and is aimed at providing affordable and easy access to the internet in all parts of the town. It started with ten (10) desktop clients and one (1) server that hosted the billing solution. In June 2016, when mobile phones and other handheld devices increased, there was a demand for wireless (Wi-Fi) by the people in the community for them to access the internet in their homes and browse comfortably. Step Network, with the help of cafe management, converted the cafe into a community internet hotspot. The project installed transmission devices in the community to provide wireless internet to members of the community. Primarily, the project seeks to broadly extend connectivity to Koforidua Ada.
